SR's Nichols, DC's Dotson, Trenton's Spindle net first-team all-district spiker selections

Seniors Addyson Nichols of Sam Rayburn, Tori Dotson of Dodd City and Misty Spindle of Trenton each earned a first-team selection on the All-District 16-2A volleyball team for 2021.

Seniors Kylee Graves of Dodd City and Viviana Murphy of Trenton joined Sam Rayburn sophomore Abbi Keeton on the second team.

Honorable mentions included: senior Avreigh Chaffin, freshman Cheyenne Clark and sophomore Ella Terry of Sam Rayburn; senior Ali Preas, junior Lindsey Mauppin, sophomore Addyson Chaney of Dodd City; junior Autumn Miles, sophomore Jolee McMahon and freshman Aubrey Alexander of Trenton; and sophomore Alyson Bogard, senior Mia Riley and freshman Molly Davis of Savoy.

All-district academic selections were junior Emily Ferguson, junior Lindsey Skipper, junior Camryn McCarley, sophomore Kadyn McCarley, sophomore Natally Medina, Chaney, Mauppin , Dotson , Graves and Preas of Dodd City; Ashley Alexander, junior; Aubrey Alexander, freshman; Diamond Hart, junior; McMahon, Miles, Murphy, Spindle of Trenton; Bogard, Riley and Davis of Savoy; junior Baylee Williams, sophomore Makayla Idell, sophomore Kaitlyn Capehart of Sam Rayburn.

Of the four Fannin County teams in 16-2A, only 1As Dodd City and Savoy reached the postseason.

The Lady Hornets garnered the district's top 1A postseason seed and reached the area round -- Dodd City's 27th trip in the last 32 years.

The Lady Cardinals took the district's No. 2 1A berth and made the bi-district round -- their seventh-straight postseason trip.
