Denison, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets swarmed Savoy, 23-1 and 16-0, to sweep the bi-district series and take a step deeper into the playoffs.
In the opener, Aaron Munger limited Savoy to a pair of hits to pick up the win.
Nick Glover and Brayden Vaught led the 23-hit barrage by Dodd City by going 4-for-5. Glover drove in four runs and Vaught had three RBIs.
Ashton Balvin also had a big game with three hits in four trips to the plate and batted in four runs.
In game two, Brayden Vaught got the start and tossed a two-hitter for the win.
Ashton Balvin came up big again with a 3-for-4 performance and a pair of RBIs.
Layton Vaught went 2-for-2, walked twice and drove in four runs.
Brayden Vaught aided his own cause by going 2-for-2 and scoring four runs.
Logan Lackey also stepped on home plate four times.
Dodd City is the top-ranked Class A team in Texas and the Hornets are now 21-1 on the year.
The Hornets will advance to face Perrin-Whitt/Electra in the regional quarterfinals.
