No. 1 undefeated Lady Hornets back in regional hoops final

No. 1-ranked Class 1A Dodd City's Lady Hornets will play No. 5. Saltillo on Tuesday, March 2, at 7 p.m. at Prairiland High School in the Region III-1A girls basketball final.

The winner will advance to the 1A State semifinals on March 5 or 6 at a time, site and against an opponent to be determined.

It equates the first advance for Dodd City (29-0) to a regional final in girls basketball since 2019 -- and fifth in the last six years.

The Lady Hornets, a regional semifinalist in 2020 and the 1A state runner-up in 2017-19, on Feb. 26 defeated No. 3 Huckabay, 62-14, at Bridgeport High School in a Region III-1A semifinal. All of Huckabay's points came via free throws.

Saltillo (26-3), also a Region III-1A semifinalist in 2020, defeated Iredell, 58-42, in the other Region III-1A semifinal this year, on Feb. 26.
