Dodd City will play Avery on Friday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Paris High School in a Region III-1A boys bi-district basketball game. The winner will face undefeated District 22-1A champion Slidell in the area round on Feb. 22 or 23.
Avery qualified for the postseason as the 24-1A third-place qualifier. The Hornets secured the 23-1A runner-up berth with a 12-2 record -- going 7-0 during the second half of district play. The postseason equates the fifth-straight for Dodd City.Last season, the Hornets' postseason prematurely ended in the area round against Slidell, the 2019 state champion -- and a 2020 state finalist before COVID-19 prompted the cancellation of the 1A title game.
