DALLAS -- Dodd City sophomore Lindsey Mauppin will compete in the Class 1A girls state cross country competiton again.
Mauppin finished sixth in the overall standings of the girls 3200m Region III-1A race in 13:39.64 on Nov. 9 at the Jesse Owens Memorial Athletic Complex in Dallas to qualify.
She will run in the 1A girls state 3200-meter race on Monday, Nov. 23, at 9 a.m. at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock.
Last fall, Mauppin placed 25th in 13:06.7 in the 1A girls state race and earned all-state honors in 1A in cross country from the Texas Girls Coaches Association for 2019.
Other girls who competed for Dodd City, which placed ninth as a team with 226 points, at the regional meet included: freshman Kaylen Atchley, 56th, 16:01.75; sophomore Autumn Brown, 68th, 16:24.92; sophomore Carson Morrison, 81st, 17:00.17; senior Prairie Wild, 85th, 17:41.07; freshman Zoie Hobbs, 89th, 17:47.84; and sophomore Tiana Jenkins, 105th, 19:40.32
Ector junior Jael Grijalva also placed 91st in 17:53.85 in the girls Region III-1A race.
Senior Landon Allen's 40th-place finish in 20:22.76 led Dodd City's boys team, which placed eighth with 251 points on Nov. 9.
Other Hornets who competed at the regional included: freshman Ethan Barnard, 50th, 20:58.66; senior Aaron Munger, 57th, 21:20.51; junior Brody Mauppin, 76th, 23:11.53; freshman Jaden Mahar, 88th, 24:28.19; freshman Garrett Morrison, 91st, 25:05.69; and junior Ian Baker, 92nd, 25:13.
Earlier on Nov. 9, sophomore Triniti Zachary of Leonard garnered 57th in 14:23.05 in the Region II-3A girls 3200m race.
Senior Said Longoria placed 80th in 19:54.48 and sophomore Pablo Ruiz finished in 21:31.29 for Bonham in the same-day Region II-3A 5000m boys race.
