Dodd City Lady Hornets beat Whitewright in 4

Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets moved to 3-0 on the season with a four-set win over the Class 3A Whitewright Lady Tigers.

Dodd City held off Whitewright in the opener, 25-23, but the Lady Tigers returned the favor with a 25-23 win in the second set.

The Lady Hornets had everything going their way in a 25-11 victory in the third set.

In the fourth set, Whitewright had a 22-21 lead before Dodd City pulled even on a kill by Journie Hilliard. The Lady Hornets pulled in front on an ace by Dani Baccus and a timely kill by Hilliard gave Dodd City a 24-22 advantage. The Lady Hornets clinched the match on another ace by Dani Baccus.

Dodd City middle blockers Journie Hilliard and Alli Preas were both a force at the net. Hilliard and Preas both had 10 kills, with Preas getting six blocks and Hilliard finishing with three blocks.

Tori Dotson stung Whitewright from the corner and slammed down six kills from her outside hitter position.

Rion Baccus had three kills and came up with a defensive gem on a dig that prevented a kill by Whitewright and eventually turned into a point for Dodd City.

Dani Baccus handed out 15 assists and slipped three aces through the Whitewright defense.

Kylee Graves had three assists and Addy Chaney came up with a pair of digs.
