Dodd City Students Shine at
2019 Vex Robotics Texas State Championship in Frisco, TX
Over two days on Memorial Day Weekend the 2-year old Dodd City High School Robotics Program competed at the Vex Robotics Texas State Championship for 1A through 4A schools at CoAmerica Center in Frisco, Texas The team of students had a very strong showing for such a young program, and Mr. Melson, their Robotics Director and Coach, is very proud of his team! The final scores placed the “Fightin’ Hornets” Team 93129D in a 3rd. place ranking in the state for VEX Arena Competition as well as VEX Robotics Skills Competition. The team members included- Ryan Brooks, Sr., Noah Stockton, Sr., Ian Baker, So., Ryan Mills, So., Niki Johnson, Sr., Hannah Worley, Sr., and Emily Klockgether, Sr. Mr. Melson wants to thank the Dodd City School Board, administration, faculty, students and parents for their support of the program for the past two years and looks forward to continued support in the coming years. He invites all Hornet fans to come out to support the “Fightin’ Hornets” at their exciting and student driven competitions next year beginning in October. The team looks forward to improving on their record even more next year, and encourages any Dodd City Junior High or Dodd City High School Students who have an interest in the program to talk with Mr. Melson on the first day of the 19-20 school year.
