Era, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets swept the Ector Eagles, 5-0 and 15-2, in bi-district action Thursday evening.
In the series opener, Dillon Jones threw a three-hitter to notch the win, while Brayden Vaught backed him up with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate, scored twice and drove in two runs.
In game two, Dodd City had a 6-2 lead after four innings and the Hornets put the game away with nine runs in the sixth stanza.
Vaught pitched a five-hitter to get the win and also had two hits, scored three times and drove in two runs to aid his own cause.
Alec Simpson had a 3-for-4 night at the plate with a pair of RBIs.
Zayne Kennon, Landon Allen, Caleb Brian and Gunnar Wilson all had two hits apiece for the Hornets.
Dodd City (14-5) advances to face Saint Jo in the Region II-A quarterfinals.
