Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets opened up District 13-2A competition with a 16-6 win over the Ector Lady Eagles.

Cassandra Woodlee was a perfect 4-for-4, scored five runs and had one RBI.

Kenzee Jones went 4-for-5, drove in two runs and scored twice.

Dulaney Chapman drove in three runs with three hits and scored three times.

Journie Hilliard also had three hits and three RBIs.

Paizley Vaught went 2-for-4, scored three times and drove in three runs.

Delaney Pilliod, Raigan Nichols and Kylee Graves all had one hit apiece in the district-opening victory.

Camryn Hubbard drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Tori Dotson struck out six and scattered nine hits to get the win.

The Lady Hornets were state semifinalists in 2017 and regional semifinalists in 2018.

Dodd City (1-0) will travel to Honey Grove on Friday for a game scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
