Tioga, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets will be making their fifth consecutive appearance in the regional tournament after the Lady Hornets put away Newcastle, 47-34, in a Region III-A quarterfinal game played Monday night in Tioga.

The score was tied, 7-7, after the first quarter and Dodd City had a three-point lead, 18-15, at halftime.

The Lady Hornets took over in the third period and built a 10-point lead, 34-24, before finishing the night with a 47-34 win.

Journie Hilliard scored 16 to lead Dodd City, Cassidy Herron put up 13 points, Delaney Pilliod dropped in nine points, Dani Baccus had eight points and Marissa Mills hit a free throw.

Dodd City (32-3) will take on the winner of Huckabay/Ranger in the regional semifinals.
