Dodd City, Texas -- Girls basketball teams from 14 schools converged on Dodd City this past weekend to participate in the 2018 Dodd City Invitational Tournament and it all came down to Muenster and Dodd City in the championship game Saturday night.
Dodd City held a 10-7 lead after the first quarter before methodically pulling away from a tall, athletic Class 2A team. Dodd City led 22-15 at halftime and stretched their advantage to double digits, 33-22, after three quarters. Dodd City finished strong for a 41-29 victory and the 2018 Dodd City Invitational Tournament championship trophy.
Dodd City's Delaney Pilliod turned in another impressive performance with 16 points in the finals and sophomore teammate Journie Hilliard dropped in a dozen points.
Cassidy Herron knocked down nine points and Dani Baccus finished with four points.
The Dodd City Lady Hornets are 14-1 on the year.
