Dodd City Lady Hornets fall to Saint Jo in regional quarterfinals

Tioga, Texas -- After notching 30 wins this year, an exciting season of playoff volleyball ended Tuesday night for the Dodd City Lady Hornets with a four-set loss to the Saint Jo Lady Panthers in the Region III-1A quarterfinals.
It was the second year in a row that Saint Jo stood in the way of a trip to the regional tournament for Dodd City.
Saint Jo took the opener, 25-19, but Dodd City answered with a 25-21 victory in the second set.
A pivotal third set may have been the deciding factor as Saint Jo held on for a 27-25 win. Riding the momentum from that victory, the Lady Panthers clinched the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.
Dodd City sophomore Addison Weeks slammed down a team-high 16 kills and teammate Kadyn McCarley also turned in an impressive performance with 13 kills against the tenacious Saint Jo defense.
Hannah Burney put down five kills and Taegan Williams finished with four kills.
Addyson Chaney handed out 23 assists to her Lady Hornet hitters.
Breezy Jenkins came up with one dig.
Williams had an outstanding defensive effort with four blocks.
The 2023 Dodd City Lady Hornets wrap up a very successful year with a 30-11 record.
Saint Jo advances to take on the winner of Miller Grove/Oakwood in the Region III-1A semifinals 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 10 at Billingsley Field House in Fort Worth.
