Dodd City, Texas -- Kadyn McCarley slammed down 17 kills and Addison Weeks was also in double digits with 10 kills as the Dodd City Lady Hornets moved to 5-0 on the year with a 3-1 win over the Avery Lady Bulldogs.

Dodd City held a slight edge throughout the opener to post a 25-21 victory.

The second set was all tied up at 11-11 before the Lady Hornets reeled off a 5-0 run to pull in front on their way to a 25-22 win.

Avery had everything going right in the third set as the Lady Bulldogs raced out to a 13-0 lead and cruised to a 25-15 victory.

Dodd City held a tenuous 17-16 lead in the fourth set and Avery was trying to rally, but the Lady Hornets finished strong to clinch the match with a 25-21 win. 

In addition to the strong performances by McCarley and Weeks, Hannah Burney contributed six kills, with Taegan Williams and Breezy Jenkins each knocking down four kills.

Addyson Chaney put down one kill to go along with her team-high 17 digs.

Weeks dished out 24 assists to her Lady Hornet hitters.

Dodd City will be back in action Saturday for bracket play at the Detroit Volleyball Tournament.

The Lady Hornets will be on the road again Tuesday, August 15 when Dodd City travels to Ivanhoe to take on Sam Rayburn.
