Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets raced out to an 18-3 lead in the opening period and cruised to a 34-point victory in the opening round of the Craig Reed Invitational in Dodd City.

Ashton Balvin hit the first two baskets of the contest and Aydan Balvin nailed a three-pointer to give the Hornets a 7-0 start.

Jaden Mahar rained down three triples as the Hornets opened up a 31-12 lead at the half.

Dodd City would go on to put a 60-26 win in the books.

The Hornets take on Nocona at 3:40 p.m. Friday in the second round of the Craig Reed Invitational. Tom Bean will play Bells at 3:40.
