MILLER GROVE -- Three-time State competitor Lindsey Mauppin of Dodd City on Oct. 12 defended her District 23-1A girls' cross country title.
Meanwhile, Ector's Brent Bailey on Oct. 12 finished as the 23-1A varsity boys' individuals runner-up in 18:48 in the 5K to lead the third-place Eagles to a team advance to the regional competition later this month.
Mauppin won in 13:48 during the two-mile race to also lead the Lady Hornets to a runner-up finish and a fourth-consecutive advance as a team to regional competition.
Other advancing members of the Dodd City girls' team and their finishes included: Autumn Brown, sixth, 14:16; Hannah Burney, eighth, 15:14; Addison Weeks, 11th, 15:53; Breezy Jenkins, 13th, 16:49; Addyson Chaney, 14th, 17:02; and Riley Murray, 17th, 20:22.
It equated the third-straight regional advance for Brown and second-consecutive for Chaney.
All four Ector girls who also competed in the same district meet qualified for regional competition: Lydia Essary, fifth, 14:08; Chelsi Petty, 18th, 21:47; Alexis Holt, 20th, 24:10; and Rylie Collinsworth, 21st, 24:34.
Additionally, Jaden Mahar individually finished fourth in 19:10 to lead Dodd City's varsity boys to their fourth-straight team regional advance.
Other advancing Hornets and their finishes included: Caleb Munger, 10th, 20:22; Mathew Stephens, 12th, 20:48; Abraham DeLaRosa, 16th, 21:11; Ethan Barnard, 17th, 21:20; and Braden Burney, 18th, 21:22.
It equated the third-consecutive regional advance for Mahar and Barnard and second-straight for Munger.
Other advancing Ector boys and their finishes included: Kaleb Haggard, ninth, 20:14; Gauge Williams, 11th, 20:46; Dominique Green, 13th, 20:54; and Nathan Harris, 25th, 23:41.
The Region III-1A races will occur Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie. The girls will run at 12:10 p.m., with the boys vying 30 minutes afterward.
