Dodd City and Ector will play in a Region II-1A baseball semifinal game on Friday at 6 p.m. at Sherman High School.

The winner will face Abbott or Hubbard in the Region II-1A final -- a best-of-three series or one-game round -- by May 28.

The Hornets reached the same regional final round in 2018, 2019 and 2021, winning and advancing to the State tournament after the middle aforementioned year.

In the regional quarterfinals, Dodd City (17-2) defeated Saint Jo, 8-6, 12-2 (5), in a best-of-three series at Bells High School on May 12.

Ector topped Perrin-Whitt, 13-9, on May 13 in a one-game regional quarterfinal at Krum High School -- continuing its deepest postseason baseball advance in school history.

Dodd City and Ector each qualified for the Class 1A postseason as the No. 1 seed from District 12-2A and 11-2A, respectively. The Hornets also advanced again as the 12-2A champion.
