Hornets to vie Tuesday for first regional hoops tourney trip since 2012

Dodd City will play Perrin-Whitt at Gainesville High School on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a Region III-1A boys' basketball quarterfinal.

The winner will advance to the Region III-1A Tournament semifinals on Friday to play Morgan or Lingleville at Mansfield Legacy High School.

An advance to the Region III-1A Tournament would equate Dodd City's first in boys' basketball since consecutive trips in 2011 and 2012 -- the latter including playing in the regional final.

In the area round, Dodd City defeated Slidell, 59-39, on Friday, while Perrin-Whitt topped Avinger, 79-72.
