Dodd City Lady Hornets 48, Bloomburg 36

Grand Saline, Texas -- The Region III-1A quarterfinal game played Tuesday night at Grand Saline High School was a battled between the District 24-1A champs, Bloomburg, and the top seed out of District 23-1A. When the dust settled, the Dodd City Lady Hornets were headed home with a 12-point victory, 48-36.

Bloomburg had a 7-6 lead as the first quarter came to a close, but Dodd City took over with a 17-8 run in the second period that gave the Lady Hornets a 23-15 advantage at halftime.

Dodd City padded its lead by six points in the third quarter to build a 37-24 cushion going into the final frame. The teams traded baskets down the stretch to give the Lady Hornets a 48-36 win in the third round of the playoffs.

Dodd City senior Ali Preas put up a game-high 19 points, pulled down nine rebounds and held her ground to draw a pair of charges in a dominant performance in the paint.

Lindsey Mauppin had eight points, Tori Dotson scored seven, Kylee Graves pitched in six points, Natally Medina finished with four points, with Addyson Chaney and Sonora Wild tossing in two points apiece.

The Lady Hornets will face Huckabay in the Region III-1A semifinals 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 25 at Mansfield Legacy High School.
