Dodd City Lady Hornets headed to state

In a one-game, regional final showdown with a shot at the state tournament on the line, and facing a team with a perfect 26-0 record, the Dodd City Lady Hornets steamrolled the Gorman Lady Panthers, 12-2, in five innings.

It was Gorman taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, however that turned out to be the only time the Lady Panthers had the advantage. Dodd City responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame to take a 2-1 lead, scored four runs in the bottom of the third and followed up with four more runs in the bottom of the fourth as the Lady Hornets' lead surged to 10-2.

Dodd City plated a pair of runners in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the finishing touches on a 12-2 victory in the regional semifinals.

Tori Dotson scattered six hits and struck out four Lady Panthers to pick up the win. Dotson aided her own cause with a 3-for-4 day at the plate and scored three runs.

Journie Hilliard was also 3-for-4 and scored three times.

Raigan Nichols went 3-for-3, drove in five runs and scored twice.

Cassandra Woodlee and Camryn Hubbard both had a pair of hits, with Kylee Graves and Delaney Chapman each finishing with one hit.

Kenzee Jones added to the rout by scoring twice.
