Class 1A Dodd City on Feb. 20 assured a 10th-consecutive trip to a girls' basketball regional tournament.

The Lady Hornets will play Gorman, the District 19-1A champion, on Friday at 5 p.m. in a Region III-1A semifinal at Mansfield High School. The winner advances to face Newcastle or Huckabay on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Region III-1A Final also at Mansfield High School.

To advance again, Dodd City defeated Throckmorton, 48-38, on Feb. 20, at Azle High School in a Region III-1A quarterfinal. Elsewhere, Gorman beat Cherokee, 85-27.

The Lady Hornets reached the semifinals of the regional events the previous two seasons, after winning the Class 1A State title in 2021.

In the area round, Dodd City on Feb. 16 defeated Graford, 43-37.

The Lady Hornets began this 14th-straight postseason for the girls' basketball program with a 42-10 win over Avery on Feb. 12.
